About Chris Guyette

Chris has been messing around with boats since he was a teenager. His interest actually began prior to that as a childhood artistic endeavor before ever setting foot on a deck with an inexplicable interest in boats. He began sailing & racing in high school where he also continued to draw and paint. An interest in the design process also began to emerge, so Chris continued on to the University of Michigan to study Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. After college, he worked for 25 years in the design industry working on commercial craft and yacht design. Prior to the CAD revolution, Chris honed his drafting skills the old fashioned way - on the drawing board. These skills are evident in the finely detailed portraits. He then spent 11 years working in a boat shop where he began to work with his hands again. It offered a great opportunity to experience boats of many different designs. He has since returned to the combination of interests from where he began - art and boats.

Chris currently lives in Maine with his wife, Jean, where they continue to rebuild their Rhodes Bounty II "Southern Cross". Hopefully, it will be done in two weeks.....
